    Qatar launches Pearl GTL plant

    (MENAFN) Royal Dutch Shell said that Qatar's emir inaugurated the Pearl Gas-to-Liquids (GTL) plant in Ras Laffan industrial city, reported Emirates 24/7. Shell added that the project, which converts natural gas into liquid fuel, started its operations in 2011's first quarter, moreover, the facility would be forecasted to produce 260,000 barrels per day (bpd) of liquid fuels and other related products in the long run. It also said that the company was financing the project, which would cost between USD18 billion and USD19 billion in order to complete. It is worth noting that Shell and Qatar Petroleum launched the Pearl GTL project five years ago.
