Kenya Airways to expand presence in ME

(MENAFN) Kenya Airways' regional manager for the Middle East and Pakistan, Abraham Joseph, said that the carrier would increase its services to the Middle East region, reported Gulf News. Joseph added that the carrier launched operations to Dubai, Muscat and Jeddah, whereas its future plans would include introducing services to Beirut, in addition to raising flight frequencies to Dubai to 14 a week, a route which accounts for nearly 12 percent of the carrier's revenue at the current time. He also said that numbers of Middle East passengers surged by 24 percent in the half year which ended September, whereas load factor on the Kenya-UAE route reached 85 percent. It is worth noting that Kenya Airways' half-year turnover increased 33.3 percent from 2010's USD452 million to reach USD603 million, resulting in USD22 million profit after tax compared to USD15 million a year earlier.
