Sadara, Saudi Railway cooperate on a rail initiative

(MENAFN) Sadara Chemical Co. and Saudi Railway Co. (SAR) plan to build up a railway network in Jubail to transport Sadara's products from its complex, currently under construction in the Jubail Industrial City II, to King Fahd Industrial Port and Jubail Commercial Port, Arab News reported. The rail project initiative is the first of its kind in the Saudi Arabia, as Sadara, owned by Saudi Aramco and Dow Chemicals, will rely on trains as the main mode of transportation to transport liquid and solid chemical products. The initiative is expected to encourage other companies to rely on trains as a means of transportation, because it is safer and more flexible than other means. Sadara CEO Ali Abuali said the initiative would make his company as the first one in the Middle East to use rail lines to transport chemical products. He added that using the railway system to transport chemical products would eliminate the need to use more than 500 trucks per day to transport products from Sadara's manufacturing plants to JCP and KFIP.
