Kuwait to investigate $1.1 billion helicopters deal

(MENAFN) Following reports of kickbacks accusations, a minister declared Wednesday that Kuwait demanded a probe into a $1.1 billion transaction to purchase from France 30 military helicopters.

As part of the deals among both countries valued at 2.5 billion euros, last year the oil-rich emirate accepted a purchase of the Airbus Caracal helicopters for an amount worth $1.1 billion.

The government spokesman and state minister for cabinet affairs Anas al-Saleh stated "it was decided to refer the Caracal helicopters deal to the Public Anti-Corruption Authority to investigate it and take all relevant measures."
