(MENAFN) Based on a recent report, roughly $28 billion in revenues are estimated to be made by 2023 through a 5G enabled digital boom in industries all around the GCC.

A platform for automated systems is to be offered via 5G, the fifth generation of high-speed internet, including production line robots, automated machinery for agriculture and factories and in fields such as oil exploration, according to the November 2017 Ericsson's Mobility Report.

"The Saudi Arabian market has been exploring remote monitoring of oil wells and making temporary networks available in case of disasters," the report pointed out.

The report also established that by 2016, up to $242 billion in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) revenues is estimated to be collected in the Middle East and Africa region.
