    Abu Dhabi hotel guests surpass 2m in 2011

    (MENAFN) Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) said that in 2011, the number of hotel guests exceeded the emirate's target of 2 million, by 6.5 percent, to reach 2,111,611 people, reported Arab News. The authority added that guest nights jumped 22 percent to 6.3 million; whereas occupancy levels went up 7 percent to 69 percent, and length of stay grew 5 percent to 2.97 nights. It also said that in the period, revenue rose by 2 percent to USD631 million, even though the average room rate fell by 14 percent to USD133, whereas food and beverage revenue was up 6 percent to USD434.721 million. It is worth noting that Saudi visitors staying at the capital's hotels recorded an increase in numbers by 58 percent over the previous year, to 60,991 guests, making Saudi Abu Dhabi's sixth largest international source market for hotel guests.
