(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi's Al Yah Satellite Communications Company's (Yahsat) CCO, Shawkat Ahmed, said that by April, the company would send its second satellite, Y1B, into orbit, reported Khaleej Times. Ahmed added that the new satellite would offer services to military and commercial consumers, and would make available high-speed, cost-effective internet using commercial Ka multi-spot beam technology, in addition to cost effective high-speed internet services to consumers in 25 countries in the Middle East, Africa and South West Asia. He also said that Yahsat, fully-owned by Mubadala, sent its first satellite, Y1A, into orbit in April 2011, offering secure services for the government and military institutions. It is worth noting that Yahsat is the Middle East's first hybrid military and commercial satellite company, which spent USD1 billion on its space program.
