Saudi plans to recruit 400k women

(MENAFN) Saudi Ministry of Labor said that following a rise in local jobless rate and demands by activists to employ women, the ministry would create around 400,000 jobs for local women, reported Emirates 24/7. The ministry added that the plans would include creating part time jobs at both the public and the private sectors, in addition to working at home through an initiative called "productive family" which the ministry would announce in the near term, as well as jobs in lingerie shops. It also said that in spite of a strong effort to create jobs for the Kingdom's citizens, the country is facing high jobless rate, mainly amongst women, with unemployment rate that was estimated at 28.4 percent at the end of 2010. It is worth noting that over 78 percent of female university and high institute graduates in Saudi are without jobs, according to Deputy Labor Minister, Abdul Wahid Al Hameed.
