    Siemens in USD1b Saudi deal

(MENAFN) Siemens' Fossil Power Generation Division's CEO, Roland Fischer, said that the company received a USD1 billion order from Samsung C&T to supply main components for the IPP Qurayyah combined cycle power plant (CCPP) in Saudi, reported Arab News. Fischer added that the plant would be the largest of its kind in the world, and would supply enough electrical energy to meet around one tenth of the Kingdom's current power demand. He also said that the plant would have an installed capacity of 4 giga watts (GW), and commissioning of the total of 6 blocks is scheduled for 2014. It is worth noting that last year, Siemens also received an order from Saudi for the supply of key components for the 2400-megawatt Ras Al-Khair combined cycle plant.
