    Qatar's 2010 exports surge 55.4%

    (MENAFN) Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA) said that the country's exports in 2010 surged 55.4 percent from 2009's USD46.80 billion to USD72.74 billion, reported The Peninsula. The agency added that in the year, Qatar's re-exports soared 73.8 percent to USD2 billion, compared with USD1.15 billion a year earlier. It also said that of the total exports, 29.4 percent was exported to Japan, with a value of USD21.41 billion. Moreover, Arab countries' share of Qatar's total exports was 7.4 percent, of which GCC countries accounted for 6.5 percent, valued at USD4.74 billion. On the other hand, the largest commodity exported in the period was LNG, representing 32 percent of total exports, with a value of USD23.38 billion. It is worth noting that Qatar's biggest export destination within the GCC was the UAE, with an export value of USD3.67 billion.
