    Jordan's CPI up by 3.6% in Q1

    (MENAFN) Jordan's Department of Statistics (DoS) said that in the first quarter, the country's Consumer Price Index (CPI) went up by 3.6 percent from a year earlier, reported The Jordan Times. The agency added that higher prices for transport services, vegetables, fruits, milk and dairy products drove the CPI by 3.7 percent in March. It also said that prices of meat and poultry products grew by 8 percent in the first quarter from 2011's same period, whereas rents rose by 4.2 percent and milk and dairy products increased by 15.5 percent. It is worth noting that in the quarter, prices of clothes and footwear grew by 5.8 percent, while prices of vegetables fell by 13.5 percent, fruits by 4.6 percent and cereals slipped by 2.1 percent.
