    Egypt posts 62.9% increase in Arab tourists numbers in Q1

    (MENAFN) Egypt's Tourism Minister, Mounir Fakhry Abd El Nour, said that the number of Arab tourists who visited the country in the January-March period surged 62.9 percent to 483,834 tourists from 296,980 tourists in 2011's same period, reported Arab News. The minister added that the number of nights spent by those tourists hiked 84.4 percent to nearly 7.4 million nights, compared to around 4 million nights in last year's same quarter. He also said that during the last 4 months, the number of Saudi tourists who visited the country exceeded 46,734 tourists, whereas the number reached just 32,718 tourists in 2011. It is worth noting that Egypt received 9.8 million tourists last year, compared with 14.7 million in 2010.
