Iraqi Airways may not buy further Bombardier planes

(MENAFN) Iraqi Airways is considering placing orders for Airbus and Boeing planes and stopping an order to buy planes from Canada's Bombardier, Bloomberg reported. State Minister Ali Al- Dabbagh said that the airline may not buy four 90-seat Bombardier CRJ900 planes after taking delivery of six of the same type. He added that the carrier is looking for larger jetliners. Iraq's Ministry of Finance will award the airline a USD300 million interest-free loan, to be repaid over 10 year, Al- Dabbagh said. Bombardier is building bigger airliners, the C-Series, to compete with bigger rivals Boeing and Airbus which dominate the single-aisle market with their 737 and A320-series models.
