    Saudi Airlines posts 26% increase in Q1 passenger traffic

    (MENAFN) Saudi Arabian Airlines' (Saudia) Director General, Khaled Al-Mulhim, stated that passenger traffic during the first quarter jumped 26 percent to 5.72 million from 4.56 million in 2011's same period, reported Arab News. Al-Mulhim added that domestic passengers grew 25 percent to 3.46 million, up from 2.77 million a year earlier, whereas the number of international passengers surged 27 percent to 2.26 million, from 1.78 million Moreover, the number of total flights climbed 14 percent in the period, reaching 37,920 flights, from 33,384 flights in 2011's same quarter. It is worth noting that during the first quarter, Saudia operated 27,048 domestic flights, up from 23,370 flights in last year's same period, while international flights increased to 10,872, compared with 10,014 flights.
