    Tunisiana to pay USD132m for 3G, fixed-line rights

    (MENAFN) Tunisiana, a telecoms unit of Qatar Telecom (Qtel, won a 3G and fixed- line licenses from the Ministry for Information Technologies and Communications, Bloomberg reported. The ministry said in a statement that the company will pay USD132 million for the two licenses. Last year, Qtel became the biggest shareholder in Tunisiana following the completion of its joint venture deal to acquire Orascom Telecom Holding's 50 percent stake in the firm. The Tunisiana deal is part of Qtel's deal with the Princesse Holding Consortium. Under the agreement, Princesse Holding will own a 25 percent stake in Tunisiana, while National Mobile Telecommunications Company (Wataniya), which is 52.5 percent owned by Qtel, will increase its current stake from 50 to 75 percent, Qtel confirmed in its statement.
