    Saudi tourism expected to provide 1.6m jobs by 2015

    (MENAFN) President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), Prince Sultan bin Salman, expected the kingdom's tourism sector to create some 1.6 million new jobs by 2015, Bloomberg reported. He stressed on the need for an agreement between SCTA and the Ministry of Economy and Planning to encourage the exchange of information and to manage national planning for the sector. He also said that in 2010, the sector created a total of 1.2 million jobs, of which 128,000 were Saudi. Economy minister Muhammad Al Jasser confirmed the important role of the tourism sector in pushing the wheel of economy, saying that it provides numerous jobs to various people. Saudi Arabia's tourism industry is expected to grow to USD14.88 billion this year, compared USD10.37 billion recorded in 2009, according to the World Board of Travel and Tourism.
