Iraq to boost power supply to 12,330 MW by 2013

(MENAFN) Iraq's electricity ministry stated that by next year, the country will increase its electricity supply to 12,330 megawatts (MW) from the current 6,000 MW, reported Arabian Business. The ministry added that in July, power supply will grow to 9,000 MW and to 9,600 MW in August, reaching nearly 10,400 MW by December. It also said that by the end of 2015, it will add 22,000 MW of production capacity across the country, except for the autonomous northern Kurdish region. It is worth noting that Iraq supplied less than half of electricity demand in 2011, which peaked at 15,000 MW.
