UAE exports to Kenya hike 72% in 2011

(MENAFN) The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) stated that in 2011, the country's imports from the UAE soared 72 percent from 2010 to USD2.31 billion, reported The National. The agency said that following the notable increase, the UAE became the largest exporter to Kenya. It attributed the surge in the value of UAE exports to the African country to high global oil prices and a weak Kenya shilling. On the other hand, it said that the number of UAE tourists who arrived to Kenya during 2012's first quarter rose by over 14 percent. It is worth noting that in 2010, UAE imports from Kenya totaled USD219 million, with products including tea, coffee, fruits, nuts, vegetables and fish.
