    UK's Atkins posts 22% jump in ME revenues

    (MENAFN) UK's WS Atkins stated that during the past year, the design and engineering group's revenues from the Middle East jumped 22 percent, reported Arabian Busiuness. The company said that headcount rose by over 400 in the region from last year, reaching 1,972. It added that at the current time, it is finishing the design of the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and working on the design and supervision of the Makkah Metro. Moreover, the company which posted a decline of 1.1 percent in full year pre-tax profits to USD159.61 million also said that its projects in the region include the design of the 1,300km Etihad Rail project in the UAE, the Dubai Metro, Lusail Light Rail in Qatar, the Kuwait Metro and support for India's Kolkata Metro. It is worth noting that Atkins, which full year operating margin was at 9.8 percent, slightly down from last year, managed to secure government contracts in Qatar advising on infrastructure planning and design projects to meet the country's 2030 vision and to support the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
