Iraq, Oman in a USD87m radar systems deal with Northrop

(MENAFN) US defense systems maker Northrop Grumman Corporation said it has received a USD87.8 million foreign military order to provide the airborne fire control radar to Oman, Thailand and Iraq for use on F-16 fighter aircraft, Arabian Business reported. The APG-68(V)9 system enables engagement of air-to-air and air-to-surface threats with greater accuracy and at greater ranges than legacy F-16 fire control radars. The radar provides autonomous, all-environment, precision air-to-surface targeting with high-resolution synthetic aperture radar ground mapping mode. Iraq will receive 22 radar systems and 15 for the Royal Air Force of Oman, while the Royal Thai Air Force will receive six, the company said. Deliveries of the APG-68(V)9 Fire Control Radar systems are expected to be completed by March 2015, the company added.
