    Saudi May non-oil exports up to USD3.95b

    (MENAFN) Saudi Central Department of Statistics and Information stated that in May, the country's non-oil exports rose by 0.34 percent in terms of value from 2011's same period to USD3.95 billion, reported Arab News. The department said that petrochemical products captured the biggest share of non-oil exports, with 37.18 percent, and at USD1.46 billion in value. Plastic products came second, accounting for 29.94 percent of total non-oil exports, at a value of USD1.18 billion, followed by foodstuffs with 7.92 percent. In contrast, during the month, imports to the Kingdom rose by 4.19 percent from a year earlier, with a value of USD11.87 billion. It is worth noting that the main importer of Saudi non-oil exports in May was China, receiving 12.16 percent of total non-oil exports, and also was the top exporter to the country, accounting for 13.13 percent of the Kingdom's total imports.
