Abu Dhabi receives 1.189m guests in Jan-Jun

(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority's (TCA Abu Dhabi) Director General, Mubarak Al Muhairi, stated that during 2012's first half, the number of guests staying at the emirate's hotels and hotel apartments jumped 14 percent from 2011's same period to 1.189 million, reported Emirates 24/7. Al Muhairi said that during the period, hotel occupancy rate fell 7 percent to 65 percent, attributing the decline to the rise in room inventory, with around 128 hotels and hotel apartments, housing 22,079 rooms. He added that the average length of stay was 2.83 days, a drop of 5 percent from a year earlier, while revenue per available room (RevPar) dived 15 percent to USD82.2. Moreover, guest nights rose 9 percent from the same period a year ago, reaching around 3,369,228 guest nights. It is worth noting that in June alone, Abu Dhabi received 205,950 hotel guests, representing an increase of 17 percent from the same month last year.
