Saudi investor protests for Moscow's support for Assad, ends deals

(MENAFN) Saudi tycoon Mubarak Swaikat has scrapped a number of multi-million dollar petrochemical contracts with around 20 Russian companies, in protest for Moscow government's support for Assad's regime in Syria, Arabian Business reported. Citing Kuwaiti news site Al Aan, Swaikat affirmed his move was based on his personal decision to support those fighting in Syria. Tensions between Riyadh and Moscow have heated over the ongoing fighting in Syria. In March Saudi officials hit back at Russian allegations the Kingdom was supporting terrorism in Syria. Russia and China have continually vetoed UN moves calling on Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad to give up power.
