Dubai's DPWorld reports 7.5% increase in TEU handling in H1

(MENAFN) Dubai-based terminals firm DP World reported a 7.5 percent increase in container volumes during the first half of 2012, boosted by a 12.1 percent rise in Asia, Arabian Business reported. The world's third-largest ports operator said it handled 28.2 million 20 TEU units across its portfolio of more than 60 ports, while like-for-like gross volumes grew by 5.4 percent. In the Americas and Australia regions, volumes increased by 6.1 percent, totaling 3.3 million TEUs. In Europe, Middle East and Africa regions volumes grew by 3.2 percent to 11.6 million TEUs. DP World said that its home hub, Jebel Ali, handled 6.6 million TEUs in the first half, a 7.3 percent growth, offsetting "weaker trade across Europe".
