Air Arabia plans new routes in Russia and CIS

(MENAFN) Air Arabia CEO Adel Ali unveiled plans to expand the low-cost carrier's international network into Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Arabian Business reported. It launched its flights to Russian capital "Moscow" in October 2011, and increased its frequency last month. Also, the carrier currently serves CIS destinations including Ukrainian cities Kiev and Donetsk and Almaty in Kazakhstan. Air Arabia plans to add three to four new routes to its flight network per year, Ali said. So far this year, the carrier has added Taif in Saudi Arabia and Salalah in Oman to its network, bringing the overall routes to 75. Air Arabia reported a 31 percent increase in second quarter net profit to USD18 million thanks to an increase in passenger traffic.
