Etihad Airways agrees with Alitalia on direct flights to Rome

(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi flag carrier Etihad Airways has inked a codeshare agreement with Italy's Alitalia to launch direct Rome to Abu Dhabi service on December 1, Arabian Business reported. Under the deal, subject to authorities' approval, Alitalia will fly four weekly flights using an Airbus A330 aircraft in conjunction with partner Etihad Airways, both carriers said in a statement. The flights will operate on a split schedule, ensuring maximum connectivity over Etihad Airways' Abu Dhabi hub, the statement said. Etihad Airways will place its EY code on the new Rome flights, to give travelers direct access to the Italian capital from Abu Dhabi, building on the daily service it already operates to the northern Italian city of Milan, while Alitalia will continue to place its AZ code on Etihad Airways flights from Abu Dhabi to Bahrain, Muscat, Johannesburg, Bangkok, Melbourne and Sydney. Etihad Airways will also extend codeshare on Alitalia operated flights to the cities of Venice and Zurich. Etihad has exiting codeshare agreements on Alitalia-operated flights from Rome to Milan, Frankfurt, Munich, Geneva and Athens.
