    Trade volume between Kuwait, India hit USD6.8b in 2011

    (MENAFN) The Indo-Arab Socio-Cultural Organization's (IASCO) Chairman, Ameer Al-Deen Labba, stated that in 2011, trade volume between Kuwait and India reached USD6.8 billion, and the figure is expected to increase notably in the coming years, reported Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). Labba said that Kuwait's exports to India reached USD6.2 million, whereas its imports from India reached USD588 million. On the other hand, he said that the bulk of direct Kuwaiti investments in India are done via international investment firms. Furthermore, in 2011, the number of Kuwaiti tourists who visited India was more than 9,000, adding that during the current year, the number of those who visited Kerala, mostly medical tourists, reached 2,816. It is worth noting that IASCO was established in 2000, and is sponsored by Sheikha Rasha Al-Sabah together with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait.
