Emirates eyes 200,000 passengers traffic on Adelaide route

(MENAFN) Dubai-based Emirates Airline's expected its new service to Adelaide, set to launch in November, to carry over 200,000 passengers per year between the Australian city and Dubai, Arabian Business reported. Salem Obaidalla, Emirates' senior vice president, Commercial Operations Far East & Australasia, said in a statement that Adelaide was looked at as underserved, compared to Australia's other capital cities, because of its lower population size. Emirates plans to increase its Adelaide service to daily flights from February 1, 2013, expecting the move to bring nearly 5,000 additional international seats per week on the route, representing a 30 percent increase for the market, the company said. He added that the planned launch is part of the recently announced Emirates and Qantas partnership, subject to regulatory approval, from April 2013.
