    UAE- Japan trade up 14.5% in H1

    (MENAFN) During the January-June period trade, between the UAE and Japan jumped by 14.5 percent from a year earlier, reaching USD27.2 billion, reported Emirates 24/7. In the period, the UAE imports from Japan surged by 45.93 percent, led by imports of automobiles, machinery and iron and steel. Japan's exports of motor vehicles soared 71 per ent, whereas general machinery exports grew 37 percent and exports of iron and steel products hiked 97 percent. On the other hand, the Arab country's exports to Japan rose by 9.7 percent in the first half, reaching USD22.61 billion, of which 98.4 percent were mineral fuels that include crude oils and other gaseous hydrocarbons, 1.3 percent was aluminum, in addition to copper scraps, precious stones and metals and live animals. It is worth noting that in the first half, Japan imported a total of 146 million barrels of crude oils with a value of USD17.43 billion.
