    Bahrain launches new vocational training standards

    (MENAFN) The Bahraini government has launched the National Professional Standards, which will regulate the vocational training of thousands of Bahraini and expatriate workers as part of labour market reforms, state news agency BNA reported. The initiative will be implemented over the next two years and will include 125 professions with a total cost of USD3.69 million. The Ministry of Labour signed a contract with the German Society for International Corporation (GTZ) -International Services (IS) to implement the programme. Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan said the new standards provide a detailed and an accurate description of skills, knowledge and competencies that must be met with the employee holding the job to complete the work diligently and in accordance with international standards. The project's partners include Economic Development Board (EDB), Specific Council for Vocational Training in Retail, Specific Council for Vocational Training in Industry, Specific Council for Vocational Training in Construction, Information and Communication Technology Specific Council, Specific Council for Training in Hospitality and the Bahrain Institute for Banking and Finance (BIBF).
