Lockheed Martin to modernize Jordan Air Force in a USD26m deal

(MENAFN) US defence systems firm Lockheed Martin Corp. has won a USD26 million foreign military sales contract from the US Air Force to modernize the Royal Jordanian Air Force's national air command, control and communications infrastructure, ExecutiveBiz reported. The magazine said that the system called Omnyx will integrate voice, data and sensor communications for interoperability across the Jordanian Air Force as well as other elements of the country's armed forces, to better protect the Kingdom's skies. The magazine cited John Nikolai, director for C4 systems at Lockheed Martin's mission systems and sensors business, as saying that the Omnyx system works as a backbone for information flow in command centers and allows the Jordanian military to track and identify aircraft, initiate or monitor airborne engagements and evaluate threats. "The system will provide enhanced situational awareness of Jordanian airspace at all times", he added.
