(MENAFN) DP World Limited stated that it has been awarded a USD200 million contract from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust and the Government of India to set up and operate a single berth terminal, reported Arabian Business. The Dubai-based firm said that the facility would be located alongside its existing terminal operation at Nhava Sheva, Mumbai, and would start operations in 2015. The world's third-largest port operator noted that it will establish a container terminal of 330 meters quay length and 17 hectares of yard, which will have a handling capacity of 800,000 TEUs (twenty foot equivalent container units) on annual basis. It added that the new quay has been awarded for a 17-year concession period, and will be equipped with 4 rail mounted quay cranes and 12 rubber tired gantry cranes. It is worth noting that DP World operates 5 Indian terminals at the current time, including Chennai, Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Visakhapatnam and Cochin.
