Bahrain, UAE top Arabs in terms of free economy

(MENAFN) A new international economic report ranked Bahrain and the UAE as the top Arab countries in terms of economic freedom, Saudi Gazette reported. The Economic Freedom of the Arab World Report compares and ranks Arab nations in five areas of economic freedom: size of government, including expenditures, taxes and enterprises, commercial and economic law and security of property rights, access to sound money, freedom to trade internationally, and regulation of credit, labor and business. The report was published by the Fraser Institute, Canada's leading public policy think-tank, in partnership with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Liberty (FNF) and the International Research Foundation (IRF) of Oman. Bahrain's overall score advanced to 8.1 this year from 8 last year, while the UAE also scored 8.1 from 7.9. Jordan came third from eighth overall, improving its score to 7.9 from 7.4 last year, showed the report.
