Oman to grant natural gas pipeline contract in 2013

(MENAFN) Oman Gas Company's (OGC) CEO, Yousuf al Ojaili, stated that in next year's first quarter, the Sultanate will award a contract to supply 36-inch steel pipelines for setting up a 250-km long pipeline to convey natural gas to industries impending in Duqm from Saih Al Nihayda in Central Oman, reported Times of Oman. Al Ojaili said that at the current time, the government is assessing the bids, as a number of global companies are submitting their offers for the project, which is executed by OGC. The CEO noted that the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) deal for establishing the pipeline will be granted by the end of next year. The pipeline will have a capacity to transfer around 25 million cubic meters on daily basis to fuel Duqm's future requirements and will be completed by 2016. He stressed that the project is essential for supplying natural gas for the planned refinery and petrochemical complex, in addition to a number of utility plants, including a power plant and a water desalination project proposed at Duqm.
