    Qatar- Qtel to raise stake in Tunisiana by 15%

    (MENAFN) Qatar Telecom Group's (Qtel) chairman, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohamed bin Saud al-Thani, announced that the company will increase its stake in Tunisiana by 15 percent in a deal worth USD360 million, reported Arabian Business. The acquisition will raise the total holding of Qtel and its units in Tunisiana to 90 percent, as National Mobile Telecommunications Company, which is 92.1-percent owned by Qtel, has a direct holding of 75 percent in the Tunisian telco. He added that the Tunisian firm is expanding its 3G services; moreover, it will introduce fixed line services next year. The deal was inked with the government of Tunisia, which will hold a 10-percent stake in Tunisiana with an eye to launch a public offering in the future.
