    Qatar interested in US rocket, missile systems worth USD406m

    (MENAFN) The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency stated that it has received a request from the Government of Qatar to acquire USD406 million worth of rocket and missiles systems, reported Arabian Business. The agency said that Lockheed Martin Missile and Fire Control in Dallas will be the prime contractor. It added that the potential sale includes 7 M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System Launchers, 60 M57 Army Tactical Missile System Block 1A T2K Unitary Rockets, 360 M31A1 Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System Unitary Rockets, 180 M28A2 Reduced Range Practice Rockets, 7 M68A2 Trainers, 1 Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System and 4 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles. Furthermore, it comprises simulators, generators, transportation, communications equipment, spare and repair parts, support equipment, tools and test equipment, technical data and support services. The agency noted that the sale will enhance the Gulf country's capability to meet current and future threats and guarantee greater security for its critical infrastructure. It is worth noting that the possible foreign military sale will still need the approval of the Congress.
