    Algeria's 2012 agricultural output grows to USD29.3b

    (MENAFN) Algeria's Agriculture Ministry's director for agricultural statistics, Hocine Abdelghafour, stated that in 2012, the value of the agricultural output jumped by 32 percent from 2011 to USD29.3 billion, reported Saudi Press Agency. Abdelghafour said that horticultural products contributed with 29.2 percent of the total value, followed by red meat with 18.2 percent and field crops (cereals) with 11.8 percent. Meanwhile, dates contributed with 8.4 percent, fruits with 7.8 percent, and milk and citrus fruits with 6.7 percent and 5.9 percent respectively. It is worth noting that in 2011, Algeria's agricultural output stood at USD22 billion.
