    Saudi Arabia allocates USD27.4b to pay education employees

    (MENAFN) Saudi Education Minister Prince Faisal bin Abdullah said that about 87 percent of USD31.6 billion education budget this year will go for salaries of teachers and other employees, Arab News reported. The ministry's staff will take the bigger share of the USD27.37 billion set for salaries, the minister said. He also said there are 524,745 employees currently working in the education sector, from which 170,722 are in administration. Prince Faisal pointed out that the ministry has set aside USD1.43 billion for 2,403 new educational projects including 382 school buildings and renovation of 2,000 school buildings, and USD213.3 million for ensuring safety and security. The ministry has also allocated USD431.92 million for operation, maintenance and cleaning contracts.
