    UAE spends USD1.58b on ads in 2012

    (MENAFN) The Pan Arab Research Centre (Parc) stated that in the past year, the UAE's ad market spent a total of USD1.58 billion, up from USD1.44 billion in 2011, driven by a rebound in consumer confidence, reported Gulf News. The figure ranked the country as the top advertising market in the region, followed by Saudi Arabia, with USD1.42 billion spent on ad in the year, whereas in Egypt, the figure grew by 17 percent from 2011 to USD1.12 billion. In the fourth quarter of 2012, advertisers in the UAE spent a combined USD441 million, up from USD397 million in the third quarter, USD396 million in the second quarter and USD359 million in the first. In the year, newspapers spent USD887 million on ads and magazines spent USD240 million, with a combined share of 71 percent, meanwhile, English-language newspapers, made up USD499 million of the total USD887 million, ranking as the top ad platform in the country.
