Sudan's Dec inflation declines to 44.4%

(MENAFN) The Sudanese Central Bureau of Statistics announced that last month, the country's inflation plunged to 44.4 percent from 46.5 percent in November, reported Xinhua News. The country has been suffering from an economic crisis as it lost most of its oil revenues after South Sudan became independent in 2011. Even though Khartoum's oil output fell to 120,000 barrels per day (bpd) from 500,000 bpd, nevertheless, production rose to 136,000 bpd as two new wells began operations. In December, the government inaugurated Um Hadeed oil well, with an output capacity of 10,000 bpd, and Al-Najma oil well with a capacity to produce 6,000 bpd.
