Saudia reports 13.3% increase in passenger traffic in 2012

(MENAFN) Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) reported a 13.3 percent increase in passenger traffic in 2012 as the airline brought more planes, Arab News reported. Some 24 million passengers used Saudia's fleet last year, 2.85 million more than 2011, driven by an increase in domestic flights demand, Director General Khaled Al-Molhem said. Through 2012, the airline received 58 new Airbus SAS aircraft (A320, A321, and A330) and Boeing's wide body 777-300ER, increasing the number of seats and flight frequencies, Al-Molhem added. The carrier's number of flights increased by 8 percent last year to a record 171,341, compared to 158,449 flights in the previous year.
