    Abu Dhabi's 2012 hotel guests hit 2.38m

    (MENAFN) Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) Chairman, Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, stated that the number of hotel guests at the emirate's hotels grew by 13 percent in 2012 from a year earlier to 2,388,023, reported Emirates 24/7. The chairman said that the increase enabled the capital to meet its 2012's target of receiving 2.3 million guests. In the period, guest nights grew 12 percent to 6,996,724, meanwhile, hotel revenues rose by 6 percent, reaching USD1.261 billion. However, hotel occupancy fell by 5 percent to 65 percent, while room revenue edged up by 1 percent and the average room rate declined by 8 percent to USD123.3. On the other hand, food & beverage revenues jumped by 12 percent, reaching USD491 million. It is worth noting that domestic tourism went up by 8 percent in 2012 from a year before to around 888,241 guests.
