Saudi MPC to close a DAP plant for maintenance

(MENAFN) Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) said that a subsidiary is planning to close its diammonium phosphate (DAP) fertiliser plant in Ras Al Khair for about three weeks for maintenance, reported Reuters. Maaden Phosphate Co (MPC), 70 percent-owned by Maaden and 30 percent by Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), will shut down the plant until February 18. It is common for petrochemical companies to halt operations to perform maintenance during low seasons. Maaden said the shut down would have no impact on its ability to meet its obligations to customers of the industrial fertiliser and that the ammonia plant at Ras Al Khair would continue to operate normally.
