Toyota ME sales grow 31% in 2012

(MENAFN) Automaker Toyota announced that its sales in the Middle East in 2012 went up by 31 percent to 660,285 units, reported Arabian Business. The company said that its regional sales were driven by strong demand for the Toyota and Lexus brands, adding that 2012 witnessed the launch of new and re-designed models in the Middle East. The Japanese company noted that sales in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) alone reached 624,400 cars in the year, raising its market share in the region to 43 percent from 4 percent a year before. It is worth noting that Toyota announced in October that it was recalling around 490,000 vehicles across the Middle East, due to the detection of a defect in power-window switches.
