Oman plans new liquid terminal by 2017

(MENAFN) Oman's Port of Duqm is planning a major liquid terminal project to cater for a world-scale oil refinery that will open soon, Oman Daily Observer reported. The paper quoted Port of Duqm commercial director Reggy Vermeulen as saying that the new terminal will be initially 3km long, large enough to meet demand from the planned 230,000 barrels per day (bpd) oil refinery in Duqm. It would also accommodate the needs of a future oil and petrochemical based industry and tank farm expected to be built in the special economic zone, the paper added. Vermeulen expected the terminal to be operational in 2017, in line with the targeted launch of the refinery project.
