flydubai in talks with Airbus, Boeing for 50-planes order

(MENAFN) flydubai's Chairman, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum, stated that the budget airline plans to acquire 50 aircraft, reported Reuters. Sheikh Ahmed said that the company, whose fleet comprises 28 Boeing planes, is in negotiations with both Airbus and Boeing for the planned order. The unlisted carrier, which is owned by the Dubai government, might unveil the potential deal at the biannual Dubai Air Show in November. Meanwhile, the carrier's chief executive, Ghaith al Ghaith, has earlier showed interest in Airbus fuel-efficient A320neo and Boeing's new 737 MAX. It is worth noting that in 2008, flydubai placed an order for 50 Boeing 737-800 planes, all of which are to be handed over by 2016.
