Qatar's Qtel, operating firms become Ooredoo

(MENAFN) Qatar's Qtel Group announced that it has changed its brand name to Ooredoo, which will also be adopted by its operating firms in Indonesia, Kuwait, Oman, Tunisia and Algeria, reported Arabian Business. The state-owned company said that by 2014, telcos in which it has controlling stakes, including Indosat, Wataniya, Nawras, Tunisiana, and Nedjma, will adopt the new brand. The step, which was expected, marks the beginning of a new era that will take the firm to the next level, allowing it to enhance its provided services. It is worth noting that in January, Qtel increased its stake in Iraq's Asiacell to 64 percent, and in 2012, it raised its stake in Kuwait's Wataniya to 92 percent.
