    Dubai's CPI inflation rises 0.53% in Jan

    (MENAFN) Dubai Statistics Center announced that in January, the emirate's Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation gained 0.53 percent from a month before, reported Emirates 24/7. The agency attributed the increase to higher prices of several groups, including transport, which rose by 1.61 percent, and housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, which grew by 1.46 percent. Furthermore, prices of recreation and culture edged up 1.44 percent; restaurants and hotels rose 0.66 percent; health went up 0.83 percent; while furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance gained 0.66 percent and alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased by 0.47 percent. It is worth noting that prices of clothing and footwear fell by 1.47 percent; whereas prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages declined by 1.02 percent, communication dipped by 0.86 percent; and miscellaneous goods and services slipped by 0.70 percent.
