    Dubai's visitors exceed 10 million in 2012

    (MENAFN) Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) stated that in 2012, the number of tourists who visited the emirate rose by 9.3 percent from a year earlier to 10.16 million, reported Emirates 24/7. The department added that for the first time ever, visitors' numbers exceeded the 10-million mark in just one year. The emirate became one of the world's most popular destinations, a fact that has been illustrated through the rise in hotel guest numbers, nights, average length of stay and hotel revenues. DTCM said that in 2012, hotel guests went up by 9.5 percent to 9.96 million, from 9.1 million in the previous year. Furthermore, the year witnessed an increase of 14 percent in guest nights, which reached 37,445,453 up from 32,848,190 in 2011; whereas hotel revenues reached USD5.12 billion, a rise of 17.9 percent.
