Egypt's Feb urban consumer inflation grows to 8.2%

(MENAFN) Egypt's statistics agency CAPMAS stated that in February, the country's urban inflation rate rose to 8.2 percent on-year, reported Arabian Business. The agency said that the figure is compared with a rate of 6.3 percent in January. CAPMAS attributed the increase to the decline in the country's local currency that raised food and drink prices by 9.3 percent. It is worth noting that on a monthly basis, February's inflation grew to 2.5 percent, compared with 1.7 percent in the first month of 2013.
